The suggestions below will make the best use of your storage space and help protect your possessions.

  • Our suggestions include creating a list of the items you will be storing. This will allow our manager to accurately determine the amount of storage space you will require.
  • Plan the arrangement of the items within the storage unit before you begin your move. Be sure to leave an aisle in the center for easy access to items stored in the rear of the unit. These suggestions will save you time and aggravation.
  • Check and make sure your belongings are covered by homeowners or renters insurance. If not, purchase a separate insurance policy to cover your possessions.
  • Think safety first! Suggestions like this are valuable. Never store hazardous materials such as flammable liquids in your storage unit!
  • Do not store food or other perishable items that will attract pests or rodents.
  • Keep your items off the floor to improve ventilation by making use of pallets, plywood, corrugated cardboard mats, etc. Suggestions to remember!
  • Use the full height of the storage unit to take advantage of the complete space. Make use of shelving to help organize your space.
  • Label boxes on all sides for easy identification. Keep a list of the contents in each box.
  • Fill all boxes to avoid tipping or crushing when they are stacked. Place the heaviest boxes on the bottom.
  • Place frequently used items near the front of the unit for easy access.
  • Place your valuable items such as stereos, cameras, etc. near the rear of the unit for protection.
  • Disassemble tables, bed frames, cabinets and other large items. Wrap and label each piece accordingly for easy assembly at a later date.
  • Clean and dry all appliances before storing them. Wedge refrigerator and freezer doors ajar for ventilation and don’t forget to use the space inside for extra storage.
  • Rub a few drops of machine oil on metal objects such as tools, bicycles and equipment to avoid rusting. Avoid covering your possessions in plastic.

  • Position sofas and love seats standing on end. Stack chairs seat to seat with tables placed upside down with legs pointing up (remove legs if possible). Use bed sheets or other covers to wrap each item for protection.
